OUR STORY
With over 50 years in the restaurant industry, Crooked Label Brewing is a testament to a lifelong passion for hospitality, service, and community. Dan’s journey began at the age of 14, and over the decades, he has worked every role from waiter and bartender to manager in some of the finest dining establishments, often under celebrated chefs. His experiences have deeply shaped his understanding of exceptional service and the art of hospitality.

Dan’s foray into brewing began unexpectedly. While taking a break from a French restaurant closure, he joined his friend Adam at Adams Bistro, which had a brewery called Twin Rivers—the oldest in Snohomish County at the time. Under the mentorship of Kris Murray, a seasoned brewmaster, Dan discovered his passion for brewing. When Kris left for military service, Dan took over, continuing the craft for 12 years. His dedication is evident in the sustainable practices and unique design elements of the brewery, including the bar crafted from reclaimed wood and the brewery equipment sourced from local resources.

In 2018, Dan embarked on a new adventure with a friend, transforming an old boat repair storage into a brewery. Despite facing setbacks—including a business partner’s exit and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—Dan’s commitment never wavered. After a brief hiatus, the brewery reopened in December 2020.
Dan’s motto, inspired by the Dalai Lama, is “Whenever possible, be kind, and remember it is always possible.” This principle reflects Dan’s deep-seated belief in love and acceptance, both in his brewing philosophy and in the community space he strives to create. His goal is not only to craft exceptional beers but to foster a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and included.

At Dan’s Brewery, you’ll find a blend of classic beer styles with a twist, brewed using traditional methods and focusing on malt-forward profiles. Operating on a 5-barrel system, Dan’s creations are influenced by Southern German and British brewing traditions, all crafted with an emphasis on quality and community. The brewery is not just a place to enjoy a drink but a space where relationships are built, ideas are shared, and everyone has a place to call their own.

Dan is passionate about remembering names and personal connections, believing that every interaction is an opportunity to make someone feel special. His commitment to affordability and inclusivity ensures that everyone can be part of the community he cherishes. With events, meetings, and a welcoming atmosphere, Dan’s Brewery stands as a testament to a lifetime of learning, growth, and heartfelt dedication.
